Web sites

Gerson Lehrman Group – I was a part of the Design & User Experience group working in-house to implement a redesign effort of Gerson Lehrman’s public facing portal. We launched on time and on spec in March 2009. In a previous project, I was the sole UI Engineer to implement translations of the site’s content to ten international  languages.

Toys R Us – At GSI Interactive, I was part of the User Experience & Design team that redesigned ToysRUS.com,  which launched in October 2008. I was one of several people tasked with building the presentation layer from scratch, based upon designs provided by GSI’s talented Design team. Although I had a hand in just about every page of the site, I was a key contributor on developing the parametric left navigation, the Mom’s Favorites and Top Sellers/What’s New tabbed navigation widgets, as well as many of the brand, category and themed pages.

GSI Interactive – While at GSI, I had the opportunity to work on many of their other partner sites, although I was primarily brought in for the Toys R Us Redesign. This took many different forms, from simple small project work to correcting production issues and adding new features and content. Some of theses sites where you can see my work are (will open new windows): Adidas, NHL, MLB, NFL, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Calvin Klein, Polo – Ralph Lauren, Dockers, Kenneth Cole, Sports Authority, Timberland, Wilson’s Leather, Burberry, Christopher & Banks, Linen’s N Things, Radio Shack, Bath & Body Works, PBS and several others.

Ultimate Aircraft CorporationUltimate Aircraft Corporation – Ultimate is a full service aircraft appearance and maintenance corporation headquartered near JFK International Airport in New York City. The client came to WHD looking for a full web site for their aircraft cleaning business, Ultimate Appearance. The logo for the company had already been established, so I based the site design off of the colors and sweeping shapes of the logo. They wanted a very clean and bright design to reflect the nature of the business. WHD coordinated all ISP setup, email configuration and domain name registration and administration for the client. Not long after this site was launched, they asked to create another site for the other side of the business, Ultimate Maintenance. Working together, we conceived a split or branched site taxonomy that would allow visitors to see whichever side of the site they wished.

Braun & Associates, Inc.Braun & Associates, Inc. – This company is a worldwide consulting service for the air cargo industry. The president, Ted Braun, contacted me to create his online presence. We worked together to build a site taxonomy, concept and then design. Ted already had the logo created by a separate agency before contacting me, so I used this logo to inform the design for the rest of the page. Once the design was approved, the site was built. WHD coordinated all ISP setup, email configuration and domain name registration and administration so that the clients involvement could be minimized once we received concept approval.http://tedbraun.com/

Shred CompanyShred Company – Founded in 1996, ShredCo is one of the oldest organized groups of online gamers on the internet today. When the trend of online gaming exploded in the mid 1990’s, ShredCo was at the forefront and remains so to this day. They turned to WHD when the time came to have their online portal redesigned. They wanted something “Industrial and grungy looking…” to reflect the games they are involved in. I saw this as a challenge to flex my traditional artistic abilities in an electronic form. Beginning with a hand drawn pencil/charcoal sketch, I then recreated it in Photoshop by “hand-painting” it on a Wacom tablet. After the fun part of designing, I had to integrate the new user interface into an older version of PostNuke, an Open Source CMS written in PHP, which used some pretty arcane front-end code. It took some doing, but I managed to get the site up and running pretty quickly and they were thrilled with the end result.

Intranet – I can arrange to have screen shots of particular products shown, should you require them. I have quite a few Intranet projects under my belt, which of course cannot be visited from outside their private networks.  In many cases, company logos and/or text will be blurred out or removed due to non-disclosure agreement. Note: Please know that I do not recycle designs that I’ve created for customers. I show these only as an example of my abilities. When I create a design for a customer, it is an original and then the  mold is broken. I can certainly use the style of prior work as a guideline for developing something new, but I will not use the assets of one customers’ design for another. It’s just a personal policy of mine.
